Chanel Vintage Haute Couture Gold Bordeaux Glass Grapes Sautoir Necklace
Vintage Chanel Haute Couture necklace, estimated to be from the 1960s. Clusters of deep red bordeaux glass beads emulating grapes between brassy gold tone filigree Etruscan style domes. Bound together by wire and linked to one another by chain. Circular pinch clasp closure with oval plaque signed CHANEL with three stars below. Between 1954-1971, Coco and Robert Goossens worked closely together establishing Chanel's jewelry, and used the three stars mark to distinguish pieces that were Haute Couture. An older, more historic piece from a storied fashion house.
CHANEL
Made in France
Gold Plated Brass / Glass / Wire
Measurements: 44" Total Length, 1/2" Width
Condition: Good/decent condition, with signs of use/wear. Scratches, loss of plating, and wear to chain, wire, clasp, and signature plaque. One group of glass clusters looks darkened/darker than others. Wires have adjusted/loosened due to the style of the necklace, but does not affect it's ability to wear it. One wire connection looks to be a different color/material, possibly repaired at one point. Honestly, it's age and history give it a charm that supersedes it's flaws.
