Geoffrey Beene Vintage Early 1970s Blue White Striped Flower Bishop Sleeve Gown
Phenomenal vintage Geoffrey Beene dress from the early 1970s. Based on the evolution of style within the era and of Beene's, as well as both the Beene boutique label and Union Made label style, this dress is from between 1970-1973 (see a similar dress on the runway from Spring/Summer 1972). It is absolutely outstanding and a great example of both the designer and it's time period. A stunning navy blue and white striped organza-like cotton blend, semi-sheer and unlined at the sleeve, double/backed at the bust, waistline and cuff, and the skirt fully lined in a layer of semi-sheer white organza. This fabulous gown features the most magnificent, huge, billowy bishop sleeve with a wide, prominent button cuff. A fitted empire waist panel that extends to the high waist, with a very full a-line skirt bottom. Plunging v neck line that is adorned with both a bow and a white flower (which can be easily removed should you prefer). A beautiful back to match, with a zipper closure at the center that is finished with a button up placket. This piece is breathtaking, suitable for events, an alternative bridal dress, a wedding party or attendee look, nautical soiree, and so much more. Wherever you wear it, one thing's for sure - it's a perfect dress.
