Givenchy Haute Couture Vintage SS 1970 Purple Green Sheer Silk Organza Gown
Extraordinary vintage Givenchy Haute Couture gown from Spring/Summer 1970, shown here documented in Harper's Bazaar (April 1970), which reads: "Givenchy designs one of the most exciting dresses in Paris.". This incredibly rare and beautiful dress features an artsy brush stroke print in 'morning glory purple', green and black on sheer silk organza. The entire dress is entirely hand stitched. Gorgeous, billowy sleeves with fitted cuffs. A fitted bodice with a cinched waist and a fullish a-line skirt bottom. Attached sash at waist. Closes with dozens of snap at the back and along the waistline. Underneath, a matching purple silk slip dress, also entirely sewn by hand, with boning through the bodice, a side zipper closure, cinched waist, and beige illusion straps. A total dream.

Condition: First and foremost, this item is missing it's Givenchy label. As you can see, based on the documentation here, it is verifiably Givenchy and was also sold at Christie's in the early 90s as assumed so. Excellent condition, with no other flaws to note on the gown. The slip underneath has a spot of discoloration near the bottom of the zipper, and two moderately sized greasy stains near the hemline - both of which are noticed at all when worn since it's the under layer. This rare and significant piece is priced accordingly.
