Jean Paul Gaultier Vintage SS 1994 'Les Tatouages' Iconic Brocade Studded Chain Cropped Bustier Top
Phenomenal and extremely rare vintage bustier by Jean Paul Gaultier, from the ICONIC Spring/Summer 1994 'Les Tatouages' collection (shown here documented on the runway and in an editorial shot by Steven Meisel for the March 1994 issue of Vogue). This particular runway is one of, if not the most celebrated of JPG's career, and pieces from it like this are very hard to come by, and for us- perhaps even harder to part with! This corset-like top is to die for. Off white/beige with a bronze and gold floral and paisley brocade. Trimmed and detailed in black with bright red contrasting stitches.Intentionally weathered and darkened silver/gunmetal dome studs all along the edges, with removable chains that hang from the front. Hook and eye closure along the center. 'Modele no. 32' label at the back, in pace of JPG's typical strip loop, with an attached waxed string and rustic metal bit. A breathtaking and impossible find - this piece likely belongs in a museum.
