Maria Calderara Vintage Italian Papier Mache Chunky Black White Ribbon Necklace

Incredible and rare vintage necklace by Italian jewelry maker Maria Calderara. This fun, statement piece is handcrafted, the artist statement reads 'these extremely light spheres are the result of carefully and meticulously overlapping layers of paper. Painted back, they are coated in several layers of crystalizing paint". Each sphere has a varied look of both shiny glaze and slightly matte. Each spherical bead is oversized and slightly unique, with a few of the beads having flat sides painted with large white dots. One of the beads is signed. Strung on a black silk ribbon with self tie at the back of the neck. Metal maker's mark at the end.
