Thierry Mugler Vintage SS 1987 Black White Gingham Cotton Full Skirt Dress
Stunning vintage Thierry Mugler dress from the SpringSummer 1987 collection (shown here documented slightly out of frame in a different color on the runway). It's obvious that Mugler was heavily inspired by the shapes and silhouettes of the 40s and 50s, and this dress is no exception - it perfectly fuses that historical context with elements we know and love about Thierry's work. This NEVER WORN beauty features a bust panel in structured ribbed pique, with a jaw-dropping arched bust line. Nipped waist with matching belt that has a silver tone space-age inspired buckle. Dramatic, super full skirt with an impressive sweep. Black, white, and brown micro gingham print cotton throughout. It even has deep pockets at each side of the hips. The backside snaps closed all the way up with a mix of white enamel buttons on the pique part and silver buttons on gingham. Mugler's attention to detail and fit does not go unnoticed here - the seams and cut are incredibly flattering while being very easy to wear. We've shown the dress here with a crinoline to give you a glimpse of what it could look like, although the crinoline underskirt is not included and it still looks killer without one. Original tags attached.
