Whiting & Davis Vintage 1930s 'El Sah' by Elsa Schiaparelli Silver Black Red Enamel Armor Mesh Handbag

Absolutely incredible vintage 1930s Whiting & Davis bag, inscribed 'El Sah', signifying this piece is from the brand's legendary collaboration with Elsa Schiaparelli! Silver tone chainmail/metal mesh in W & D's signature 'flat armor' style, with a brassy patina throughout. Degrade red and black enamel geometric deco design throughout that is almost reminiscent of a snakeskin print. Each side features a framed amber glass 'jewel'. Fringed, flapper edged bottom. Etched, hinged frame with intricate closure that features a tiny blue cabochon at the tip. Lovely brass ball chain strap adorned with amber rhinestones. Unlined.

Condition: Good overall condition. This item is nearly 100 years old, and shows signs of wear that are truly part of it’s antique charm. Signs of wear to metal, such as varying tones on the strap and mesh. Minor scratches to glass. Loss of enamel, creating a degrade effect. Presents beautifully, despite it all. Priced accordingly.
